ART-TRONICS was founded By Rob Thomas, KC4NYK to answer a need for well designed enclosures and other accessories  to match the well-engineered technology that is ever-evolving from great minds in the maker/hacker entrpeneurial community.

Rob  is a professional Industrial Designer who studied Fine Art at the University of Nebraska and got his ID degree from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. While a student he co-owned a construction company in Manhattan and was then hired by a well known Connecticut ID firm. There he was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time to participate in some of the most exciting product design in the 70′s. This ranged from racing sailboats to Tools for Stanley Tools, sporting goods for AMF, watchbands for Timex for which he was named on a patent, and last but not least the original prototype of the IBM PC.

Rob has been involved with digital manufacturing and engineering for almost 3 decades and was responsible for store design at Circuit City Stores, and CarMax where he took those company’s fixture programs from slatwall and formica to a cool punched metal vernacular that involved two patent applications by the fabricators with whom he worked.

In addition to ART-TRONICS Rob is the founder of KlikHomecom – the world’s most unique furniture showroom where you can design your own table or other piece of furniture and then Klik will cut it out and ship it right to your door for a quick, “kliky” assembly! Think Japanese joinery meets Mr. Potato Head!

Things are still evolving here as well so come back often and see what Rob has posted from his sketchbooks and if there is something that you don’t see, but would like to have, leave a comment and he’ll try to accommodate.

    Hi Art,
Currently I build and service Elecrafts and SWL kits. I’d like to extend by adding Genesis Radio products.

One of the problems with Genesis is the packaging issue. One of my clients was ready to buy a G3020, but the lack of a box stopped him. I’m going to send him a note with your site … maybe I can reawaken the project.
